Post films that are actually problematic

Kubricks Lolita actually sexualizing a 14 yo girl makes it pretty morally questionable to me. I know it’s the point, but it might cross the line a little.

I haven’t only through the video I mentioned. I mean sure that can be argued but just the fact a bunch of it comes off as snuff is odd to me. Just my personal opinion I mean the fact the chick gets skinned alive is wild as f*** to me. I just personally think that something like that can be problematic.

None of that is snuff tho. Her being skinned alive in that movie serves a “divine” purpose.

    Seriously, why would it be?

you must also think Lolita and like half of literary classics are bad, because plenty art depicts 'bad' people and situations. I'm glad movies aren't all hollywood romance about how wonderful life is all the time

I don't understand how someone would be surprised that, out of the hundred of movies that get made each year, one was made with... a legitimate, contemporary talking point? Especially when virtual p*** seems like one of the more discussed things of the past couple years? It's not like the director went out of his way to pick some obscure concept, but, with that being said, I doubt many people have thought much about the idea of a pimp for virtual s***work. Or how pimping has transformed, in some ways, with changes in how s***is consumed. So it's a great concept to give visibility too imo

It's weird that guys are predators, yeah, especially with younger women. Not sure that its weird that people want to talk and think about and make art out of it

A romanticized pedophile tale ain’t my thing. If it’s yours that’s on you. It’s something I find problematic not saying you have to agree

I mean snuff as in just downright vile and having it be that extreme for no reason. You’re missing the point it is bizarre lol how is it not? That’s the point of it being problematic we’re talking about problematic here.

I find that to be concerning when films like that are just gore p***. Is it not some what of a red flag? What compels somebody to make a movie that pushes that far? But gets protected cause it is just a film? Just like every other film people are pointing out in this thread they find problematic.

i think it glorified the scummy wall street persona instead of vilifying it which i think was maybe its goal.

The Wolf of Wall Street doesn’t glorify that lifestyle at all. That’s always been one of the worst criticisms about that movie to me

for arguments sake lemme revise my point. the question was films that are problematic. i should have simply said wolf of wall street not because it glorified Jordan, but because i know for sure that it inspired a bunch of f*** boy teens to get into banking and finance because they saw jordan as being so f***ing sick. and maybe that isn’t problematic at all just wanted to clear my thinking up

I don’t consider it problematic because you’ll find those results with any movie/game/piece of music. Like how you have kids who’ll get into d**** and other s*** cus their favorite rapper talks about it. It’s more so kids being idiots rather than the actual media being problematic IMO.

If that’s the case, any media ever with a negative aspect of life involved (drugs, sex, violence, etc.) is problematic because kids are easily impressionable without the proper parental figures explaining to them the difference between entertainment and reality.

I think an example of a problematic film is something like Licorice Pizza because it presents a predatory relationship in a positive light

your first comment didn’t frame it as romanticized lol, just bugging out about the topic itself.which is what I responded to. If you found it romanticized, that’s just a huge difference in interpretation. Don’t come around sideways and put new words in my mouth lol

Just bc the movie goes “this isn’t good” doesn’t mean the movie is good as result.

Will never understand how ppl enjoyed a movie that central plot was grooming a young girl to become a p***star. S*** was OD weird whether the movie intended to send a message or not.

    holy s*** you’re a moron

You should watch the movie before dismissing it as extreme for no reason.
Most of the posts itt aren’t problematic like op probably meant anyway.
