I think he’s right when he said it’s not healthy to WFH for a full week. You can really feel the effects of that closer to the end of the week. Having it split up half-half is the best imo.

But the way he wrote that post was really off putting

That thread came off as bootlicker-ish tbh

Imagine thinking it's bad that people are able to WFH and still be able to pursue interests, have more time with their family, not dedicate their life traveling to and from work, etc

I'm assuming you are young and fresh out of college, in your first semi-corporate to corporate adjacent job, thus lack real world experience and have "wide eyes" to corporate culture.

If you don't like WFH 5 days a week and want to work in an office and do a job can do comfortably from home, that's fine, but there's no reason to want to force other people to do that as well.

The only potential "downsides" to WFH is (1) lack of human interaction, as you said, but that can easily be remedied by doing other things after work and on the weekend, and (2) health issues, such as not moving around as much as you normally would, which could also be remedied by taking walks.

I WFH 5 days a week, make a great living, and love it. And it's pretty cringe to be against it. Working against your own class interests is never the move.

im f***ing crying they told me i was cringe tho

This can all be easily remedied if jobs let the person pick individually

You know, flexibility and creating more productivity from the person by letting them work in a personal confortable enviroment?

One that want to work most days in can, and those that want to work most days out can

Dont know why yall are always arguing for extremes on totality

Thats why you have no control now in the market

I think it depends on where you’re at in life too. I can understand why people right out of college may want the social aspect that comes with being in an office of peers. It could be a harsh transition going from being around people in college to then WFH 5 days a week living in whatever city you found a job in and looking to make new friends plus a significant other

I think as they get older and get in a relationship they may start to prefer WFH

or if they have to take care of children at home

as a long time wfh worker here are my personal reasons for why it's beneficial

    • I don't wake up earlier
    • I hate corporate culture, faking smiles and behaviors
    • There are no coworkers in my team working physically
    • My workload is relatively light so most of my time I would just waste doing nothing, instead at home I can take care of many other things and chores

WFH was cool at first but then it gets monotonous and lonely. The week goes by waay faster when I go into the office 2-3x a week

My job could be WFH. I’m apart of a 4 person team and I work for a giant global company.

Guy on second shift has constantly brought up working from home to the boss in the past couple months.

Buttttt he doesn’t pay attention enough to see that about a dozen similar jobs in our wing have been sent to India and Mexico.

Our only saving grace card is that we can say that “we helped the people on the production floor” aka we left the office because we were needed on the floor which is a blatant lie.

I wish I was WFH especially with my terrible schedule, but I would always be nervous about getting outsourced

people forgetting that WFH is a public health issue and that crowded workplaces are disease factories. weird to chalk it up as "yuppie bullshit".

Also, interacting with your coworkers in person is not a real social interaction. Get a life. Get actual friends.

this is also not it but I'm not surprised this is your opinion

Unrealistic other than COVID but okay we can’t ever go around ppl or we’ll get diseases because that has happened everywhere
