I’ll never respect anyone opinion on film who watch video essays. Any one I’ve had the misfortune of watching has always been some try hard hating s***. This title asserts the same goal. Just form your own opinions it’s really not that hard. So much to inform yourself on whether on screen or off, why value someone else reciting it with an opinion attached?

Correct, I'm just throwing the distinction that his older works seem to keep you more enthralled with how he can keep a grand scope but a more concise plot, his newer works are too indulgent in exposition and his own personal flights of fancy imho 🤷🏾‍♂️

the thing about this type of directors is that he is totally allowed to drop a dud on you. ngl i often prefer that over someone like tarantino or nolan who are so concerned about dropping hard-to-criticize projects. after all, every dud is one step taken towards a classic

I generally stay away from both but video format allows creators to be more obtuse. Pairing s***ty opinions with short video clips to back it up typically gets thru on those unwilling to make up their own mind.
