cats are EXTREMELY food motivated. so if he associates u with food and the coming of food, the immediate positive gratification of food, he'll start to like you

so if you only give him food at specific times a day and he has to look forward to the next meal, he'll also look forward to you

and u shld try sitting like 6 ft away from him when u give him food and just not bother him while he eats
if he seems ok w that--doesnt look at you, doesnt seem upset
you can move a little closer the next meal
so and and so forth until u can sit right by him

then u can let him stiff ur hand
then u can start trying to pet him
