Idk how anybody can get scared from this s*** and not just laugh. I'm someone that has watched beheadings since 2000 and this s*** looks so damn fake I bust out laughing. I was intrigued when I seen topic title but once again busted out laughing when I seen it.
most of us were watching ed edd n eddy in 2000 not torture videos this s*** is gross
just finally saw it and I loved it easily the most refereshing horror franchise going right now
Yea this scene def topped that one ‘dance’ scene early in the Suspiria remake, which was the last scene that reeeeeeally left me disturbed
Found that someone posted the first part of the death on YouTube. But just so you know, it somehow, SOMEHOW, gets even worse. It’s the scene that apparently had people actually having health problems because of it. Art has just started on her by the time that clip ends. And all this is happening to probably the nicest character in the movie
But it’s so over the top brutal and mean spirited it becomes absurdly dark comedy lol
This is sick this isn't even art or cinema this s*** is like borderline snuff
I'm not sure why anyone would want to expose themselves to these sort of images but if you do you're sick

It’s a very well made movie and I’m not gonna be a geak about it but practical effects are definitely art
Also can’t help but point out that people said the same stuff about The Exorcist (and worse) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre when they came out
I’m not even really into super gory stuff, i just saw this w friends bc it was supposed to be an at least decent new horror flick. I would have preferred less sadism for the kill being circulated itt but I also think it’s ridiculous to deliver reactionary judgments to something out of context. Just seems out of touch w the point of art, and perhaps especially horror as a genre w it’s many subs
Practical effects are great and all speaking from art dept. experience but idk man, this is on some salo/Serbian film/human centipede s***. I like impactful gore. Green room/raid 2/Mandy kinda s***. This just excessive.
And there's too much "b-movie" not so great compositing over the great practical effects to really make it not what it is, schlock. This is like a really long YouTube viral short. Which is definitely the point but still, it's not quite kino
I think OP said the void felt cheaper than this, I gotta disagree. This is like Neil breen/best of the worst type shooting quality right here. The void overcame it's budget and then some
What's up with the viral marketing for this series too? I feel like people are getting very vocal about this which is weird considering just how indie it is
I've seen theaters check ID's, I remember when I saw the wolf of wall street they checked mine lol. And tbh it should be done more so I could have watched this movie in peace without a group of 16 year olds with tik tok haircuts behind me saying s*** like "nahhh he wild fr" in my ear while someone gets their head cut off
MF talking s*** about teenagers with a Euphoria avy lmao

Jesus Christ

Yeah I wasn't watching cartoons in 2000 lol
Do I gotta watch the first one to watch this
I didn’t, and I don’t think so. It has a Halloween esque basic plot w the main slasher coming back to kill a bunch of people in town for the anniversary of his previous attack (from the first movie) and that’s all you really need to know. I may watch the first now that I’ve seen this but it seems this is a big improvement on the original

Imo Salo is a great movie and it’s about Italian fascism allied to the halocaust so it has very valid ground to be excessive. And while this is more of a ‘b-movie’ rather than aiming towards the artsy pretensions of Salo, I don’t think it really takes from the creatives’ talents. I’m not sure why a discussion on its existence as art is even necessary. It has a story, characters, atmosphere, rich set design, all of which wouldn’t even be necessary beyond the texts simple circulation as a film. Aside from the gore which is understandably too much for many, people discuss it as the best grindhouse slasher in years. It’s part of a clear tradition
Tho all that being said, I understand everyone has strong opinions about the validity of depictions of violence as an appropriate aesthetic / way to engage the world through art.
A book like Blood Meridian or (perhaps) American Psycho are phenomenal in part bc of their engagement w excessive depictions of violence as a way to comment on specific historical moments. You’ll find plenty of other effective books covering the same themes w much less violence, but the reading experience is clearly different. It’s certainly interesting to see how people respond differently to these depictions as they take place in unique art mediums. The movie scene circulating itt wouldn’t be out of place for the book version of American Psycho
Interestingly enough, while the movie adaptation was quite toned down from the book, it still hit many viewers as too much at the time of release.
