ive never had an album experience "enhanced" by visuals, universe or whatever the f*** op is talking about i just want the album to be good, and i dont think thats particularly the case with this one

it has a lot of interesting ideas its just hard to get through and not easy on the ears
good, 95% of everything easy on the ears is boring nowadays anyway. they ripped TPAB to shreds over this same point

just cuz of this there will never be a new death grips album
just cuz of this there will never be a new death grips album
Gas get a star out now!
I don't even like it but it really is Die Lit. It was just too good and did so much for Carti. The critics didn't d*** ride it but if you were outside it was the people's album
Critics didnt d***ride BTI either
They hated it or thought it was average
just cuz of this there will never be a new death grips album
But seriously man, youve never liked a song more because of its music video for example?

i mean the thread is about albums but not really i dont think? maybe this is america but only cuz the gunshots are not part of the song itself
There's been 2 other major releases with an underlining theme and further production on a large scale. Those being Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and Frank Ocean's "Endless". Both of contained high end production design.
just those three huh? lol
anyway that's an insignificant part of your OP. i personally think his two albums after BTI are superior but you're right, this album does have a crazy following.

imo when the music is good and it has visual components, it makes it better. its even better if the visuals and the music reflect each other like with the new porter robinson album. when u listen, its sounds like a walk through the forest and the visuals reflect that. it only works if the music is good to begin with though
TESTING
TPAB and Yeezus are the true cult classics of the 2010s.
The real cult classic album is the killer bean forever soundtrack
interestingly enough 3.15.20 is the polar opposite of what is saying. just music nothing extra-musical, no artwork, no titles
Yeah I never understood all the extra stuff artists try to do the most with. No one in the future is going to take that into account just put all that energy into the music and make it good
nearly 10 years later and the world around BTI is discussed nearly as much as the album
aesthetics and visual treatment should always be as importantly as the artist wants then to be.
if not then it’s really a product more than an expression
Childish Gambino's "Because The Internet"
Accompanied by a 72 page screenplay, Gambino literally crafted an entire universe for the main character of the album, simply named "The Boy". Gambino often wore the same outfit in TV press interviews and late night talk show events to further bring the character to life. The album was also supported by 2 shorts, the major release being "Clapping For The Wrong Reasons"

BTI received quite average reviews across many publications. However it is considered a full package and masterful experience by many fans and listeners who commend the multi-dimensional avenues Gambino chose to explore.
There's been 2 other major releases with an underlining theme and further production on a large scale. Those being Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and Frank Ocean's "Endless". Both of contained high end production design.
What about the music?
BTI explores various genres and sounds from the gorgeous and trippy "Flight of the Navigator", lead single "3005" to one of the best records of his career, "Telegraph Ave".

I had a dream I was flying over all of us
There were so many pretty people, so many pretty faces
I talked to some birds, I fell in love again
And none of this ever ended
Everything just kept going, and going, and going
And even when you laughed, you cried
And even when you were sad, you were really happy
Cause you were here, and I got to meet every star
Every planet, everything that made me
And we all kissed, and became the same
We became the same, we became the same."
Gambino also provides some classic hip hop with a cinematic twist in "Crawl"

We still haven't discussed:
Conclusion:
We just don't see albums like these anymore. The story, universe, characters, visuals all tie in together. We have been brainwashed with basic rollouts, 1 video here, track list there, available now! It's cookie cutter. It's old.
The sonics are a wave of lush summers, vibes in the middle of July where you're falling love. This album needs to be cherished for it's experience, I honestly think it's made to be heard on the island of Kauai as the sun goes down.
i like Telegraph Ave
…..
ok Vance
this isnt brick body kids still daydream
See, this is actually in cult territory, y'all keep posting the most obvious albums. OP SAID CULT, NOT JUST CLASSIC
his best album and the one of the defining releases of the 2010s even though most people probably don't feel that way now, one of the most unmistakably 21st century albums ever made. Donald hasn't been able to come close to the quality of the album yet besides a few songs but that's okay I guess, at least he has Atlanta.
