I just turned in my final thesis paper for my masters accounting capstone class and I’m finally done with college forever.

I am sad that I’m leaving the town I spend almost 8 years in I am also so depressed knowing that I spend 8 years living alone and now I’m going back to live with my parents

My parents are open to me going anywhere I want but it’s easier said than done. I also know so many friends that have their masters and still struggling to find a job or working making $18 an hr.

School is really a trap fam. I know like 5 dudes with a full college education still living with their parents cause they still can’t afford to live alone.

On top of all this I met this gorgeous girl who is moving to Houston, while I’ll be stuck in Illinois in this cold ass weather searching for jobs and s*** i haven’t been this depressed in a while man

    Motivation. There’s a way out.

I grew up in Canada and saint Louis, and moved to Chicagoland 5 years ago but never really made friends out here because I was always away in college. Now I’m 26 so obviously it will be impossible to make friends since I’m movin with my parents. But I’m really trynna move else where soon bro

Saint Louis was a s*** show bro. Very uncultured and very white. But Chicago suburbia is somewhat more like the suburbs of Toronto but like I said I have no friends here so it’s extremely depressing. Nothing beats Toronto man. The one thing I do love America in general compared to Toronto is that it’s not crowded and Chicago is way cheaper than Toronto. Also way more opportunities out here than in Canada

Congrats on finishing college and getting your degree. I think many people don't use their time in college that well. In college you supposed be learning ofc, but it's also an opportunity to build connections w people in the field you'll be working in. Through connections you can increase your chance of getting a job quickly.

But yea, I do agree that college doesn't work for many people.

Look at finance gigs on upwork.

See which ones are popular and pay welll, then google around and practice until you can get those.

Work up your experience then re apply elsewhere

F*** no. I’m not about to learn anything new or “practice” anything new after spending all these years in college and attaining two different degree. I’m straight looking for a job that pays me well. I’m not doing any course work, taking extra classes or so forth unless I have a job that’s paying for it and I’m required to take it

Many people are deceived like that yea. College throws so many papers and exams n s*** at people that you barely get the chance to figure out wtf you're even doing. It was similar for me until a teacher actually approached me and told me she thought I'd be suited for an internship at a certain company. That's when it clicked for me.

Don't overthink it all too much though. You've got your degree. College is a good place to build connections but it's not like you'll never make any again for the rest of your life now.

lol facts. I was (still kinda am) considering going back to school for a graduate degree only to escape the post-grad life.

This s*** depressing foreal and I don’t blame people for wanting going back to school. Tens of thousands of dollars in debt and no little to no jobs that would allow us to pay it back without starving. The system broken.
