Don’t know how to read the bit at the bottom in black so not sure if that adds any context, but this struck me as really weird.

Have heard criticism of handshakes as being culturally insensitive (e.g. some Muslim women don’t like to make physical contact with men) but never heard them described as an example of toxic masculinity. Is this a common opinion?

    You just click on it

That's just part of the culture of Islam, they should not make contact with any man that isn't their husband, or family.

Islam is a loaded topic so let's not dive deep into that

Men like this have existed for years, Stephen hawking, bill gates, Einstein, jfk, James Baldwin weren't toxic, chauvinistic jocks but rather well educated well spoken men.
Also, Malcolm X went from toxic behavior to a revolutionary, smart, well read, well spoken man.

    Yea basically educated

Men are born protectors of the family home.

    Strength, courage, leadership,

whilst toxic masculinity is generally termed to mean men dont express emotions

its also a movement to demsculize men of other traits. as expressed above

i agree those are positive traits but why can’t a women portray them or take the role of being the leader of the home

Bro, I'm just not well read when it comes to this topic. What have you read to support your claim?
If masculinity isn't a inherently male trait, where does it stem from? is it a social construct?

  • Jun 23, 2020
    Tvremote

it does, there are terrible traits to toxic masculinity like not showing emotion. (which is ridiculous) but the idea of man all wearing flowers and dresses is also ridiculous. society has lived upon a warrior class being a part of it.

It’s so ingrained in society it may seem ridiculous but in reality what is wrong with a man wearing flowery dresses?

Surely in an ideal society something like clothing would only need to be differentiated by gender if it fulfilled a gender-specific role (e.g. no one without breasts would need to wear a bra).

In theory assigning gender specifics to any inanimate objects is ridic imo, although obviously thousands of years of this happening obv makes the issue a lot more complex
