I finished Cowboy Bebop last night, basically a year after my last anime (NGE) and the genre is a strong 2/2 for me now. One thing I really like about both shows is how relatively short they are (but maybe this is more common across the genre than I realize). I do wish I could watch something that wasn’t so male audience leaning though, so maybe that could provide for a more specific recommendation? What’s a good anime in general to move on to? But also, what would be a good anime that is told from a more female perspective too, if possible?
Gunbuster
FLCL
Trust and Betrayal 1999
Gunbuster, made by the creator of NGE, follows a female protagonist in an extremely short and emotional space mecha that parallels Interstellar by christopher nolan.
The others mentioned are short anime (like 6 episodes long) that are in my top 10 that I think every eva/bebop would enjoy. Gunbuster and FLCL are very close to NGE. Trust and Betrayal very close to bebop.
Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is a must watch
i might be the only person on earth who prefers the darker 2003 version.
@OP theres the rebuild of evangelion movies too btw. the final movie in the series is actually releasing next january
start watching attack on titan now and catch up for the final season!
FLCL
berserk (1997)
gundam wing

samurai champloo

i might be the only person on earth who prefers the darker 2003 version.
I preorder the OG as well and literally everyone else I know prefers Brotherhood
You a real one
Lmfao @ the recs In here. If those are your first 2, your next should ABSOLUTELY be Samurai Champloo and NOTHING else. It’s made by the same person who did Bepop and it’s also short.
Mirai Nikki
Akame Ga Kill
Angel Beats
Black Bullet
iirc all these 4 anime have a huge role for female protagonists
Gintama (My favorite OAT)
