The hype behind the AI just reveals what’s already been known on this site which is that a lot of y’all don’t really love music like that. Just see it as an algorithm of numbers (e.g. like most people in the chart thread)

The thing is, there are a lot of artists on this site that do. And the prospect of a dead man’s voice (especially a dead black man’s voice) being used for posthumous purposes, is really really really f***ed up. Especially in a landscape where artists already can barely make money as it is.

It’s funny when you consider these AI voices will never 100% get the cadence, accent, or the natural colloquialism of the rapper right. Thats why every kanye song sounds like him if he was type Putin. And this is just those “how to rap/produce like insert rapper” videos by those creators that usually make a bare-bones impressionistic take on an artist but can never get by on their own merits.

AI only “barely” works with voices that are famous and distinctive enough to be mimic’d.

Don’t think too many people even would be in the know to make a Fahim, MIKE, Mavi, or redveil AI rap for example. It wouldn’t be profitable.

On top of that, if anything it’ll encourage more of those artists to pull a Mach Hommy/Your Old Droog and DMCA takedown any site that puts their lyrics up on a site that an algorithm could use to “make up a type song”

His voice is too distinctive that it dont work. It dont work with any of em but Drake’s over reliance on autotune recent years makes his AI attempts more “realistic”

yeah but imagine spending 5+ years to develop your skills as a songwriter/beatmaker and someone who has no musical background uses AI to generate an instrumental + lyrics instantly that is objectively "good"

theres a science to making a catchy pop song and all you'd have to do is give a training data set to an AI for it to start generating stuff
