Drake fans miscontrue what ppl mean by sounding the same.

You can take CLB, Scorpion and Views and mix and match multiple songs and it wouldn't change those albums one bit.

Content, beats, lyrics and overall aesthetic is very similar through all of them.

There's more examples but for starters, if you took One Dance and Controlla off Views and put them on CLB, both albums would be way different. Albums are longer now in the streaming era -- that doesn't just go for Drake, it goes for every major hip hop artist. That doesn't mean the albums are interchangeable.

Here is a good example. Imagine if Kanye made an Donda full of 24s

They're stans so they are not capable of stepping back and looking at it objectively.

People are jus annoyed that Drake stays at the top so effortlessly.
If you think about it...in movies where there is some kind of competition the reigning champion always is kind of a douchebag and the underdog always is the guy everyone likes.

The critics liked him until after IYRTITL, then it was clear he is the top dog and the unrealistic expectations started to appear

No they wouldn't. Controller and one dance served the same purpose

    As Blem, Fountains, madibA riddim.

The first two blowup cause it was the first.time drake did that. The rest didn't blow up cause they're a rehash of one dance.

Drake has shown he’s very much versatile, if not the most versatile artist in the industry right now. So the spotlight’s always on him

Tbh I think One Dance was just a really good song compared to the other ones, like it was an actual bop

All Drakes r&b songs are the same s***. Then you got s*** like Lemon pepper freestyle which hes remade like 5 times atp

So Passionfruit and Bria's Interlude and After Dark are the "same s***"? This is what I mean when I say most of the Drake criticism is just substance-free hate. I've seen some good critical posts about CLB and I'm happy to engage with those. CLB isn't a perfect album! But the takes about Drake needing to evolve his subject matter or Drake sounding uninspired, among others, are bullshit and lazy.

Agreed. Controller was also very popular though too. Once ppl got used to him attempting one of those per record, they started to lose their appeal in a sense..

    I don't disagree with this

IMY2 - F***ing Fans - Get Along Better all fit the CLB theme really well and come towards the end.

Passionfruit isnt even rnb. You clearly dont get where niggas are coming from. I had people i know irl that dont even listen to music like that that told me CLB sound like some s*** he already made before.

You can even acknowledge that this is a sentiment niggas have towards his music. You think people are saying it just to say it? no. Bruh rarely comes through with some new or interesting s*** in his music.

Love All the least fav track, Lotta 42 (Need me) should of stayed as it was. But its low energy so feels like a intermission during the album.

Way 2 Sexy. Girls Want Girls, In The Bibble, TSU, N 2 Deep also fit.

Just wish it was sequenced better

And I don't hate the album. I don't think Drake makes bad music. I think he falls into the trap of dropping so much music that he scatters out the quality

DLDT was a force drop which made no sense tbh

I agree to an extent, he puts so much music out he doesn't take a break. Features - Care packages - Ep's all the time. No break

It's hard for me to take that sentiment seriously when people worship Hov for his 1996-2003 run, Wayne for his 2005-2008 run, Future for his 2014-2017 run, and Thug for his 2015-present run (the list goes on) despite those artists never changing their subject matter. So it just comes off as blind Drake hate to me. This guy has been the biggest, most important artist making music since at least 2011 and he continues to experiment sonically and aesthetically. Thankfully the numbers reflect that the masses recognize and appreciate this.

Because they actually have s*** to talk about. Drake could never make a dead presidents or a justify my thug verse 2. Hes not as good of a rapper as wayne either. Wayne would rap on any beat. Wayne even made a rock album

Wayne's rock album confirmed that Wayne is a one-dimensional artist.

Hov could never make a Marvins Room or a Look What You've Done or a Know Yourself etc etc etc.

This is about subject matter, not sound. It's specifically in response to people saying that Drake keeps rapping and singing about the same ish as if their favorite artist isn't guilty of that very offense.

Drake has obviously evolved his sound plenty and only the most delusional or ignorant folks would claim otherwise. In fact the biggest criticism I see serious Drake fans make is that they wish he evolved his sound LESS -- they want Drake to work more with 40 (like he did on SFG and Take Care) and less with everyone else.
