No they wouldn't. Controller and one dance served the same purpose
As Blem, Fountains, madibA riddim.
The first two blowup cause it was the first.time drake did that. The rest didn't blow up cause they're a rehash of one dance.
you’re hating with no real purpose or point and its beyond clear.. i mean your user is literally nerdassjock and people in this thread are taking you serious
I think what also bothers me is this type of criticism primarily exist in hip hop.
Indie rock has the same subject matter. Pop has the same subject matter. R&b has the same subject matter, etc. It’s only in hip hop that we have this weird expectation that every elite rapper has to talk about every single thing under the sun, and frankly we’re hypocrites about it. As pointed out in this thread, some of our most celebrated artists only talk about how unfuckwithable they are and we eat it up.
And sound wise, 90% of artists/bands expand upon their sound by attempting to create the best version of it, not completely switching to something new, and Drake is still not even given credit for juggling 4 distinct sounds per album
This is the dumbest s*** I’ve ever read. Please do this rn and show me what you come up with
No you do it. Then come back and tell me.what you get.
No you do it. Then come back and tell me.what you get.
No you do it. You brought it up
And I don't hate the album. I don't think Drake makes bad music. I think he falls into the trap of dropping so much music that he scatters out the quality
Agree with this. Not you too ft Chris Brown not being saved for this album was criminal.
But on the flip side, as a huge fan of his music I'll take 30 great songs over only getting 15 and being able to say this man who literally doesn't know I exist made another amazing album.
Most of them evolve their sound and vocal style even if not subject matter so they keep fans engaged still

Ok

There's no dispute that Drake has evolved his sound and vocal style lol. Compare SFG and TML to More Life and CLB, for example.
No you do it. You brought it up
I'm not doing the work for.you. 8 don't need convincing. You do, so you do it.

Yeah I agree, just saying why they don’t get flack I think Drake just gets more attention/praise/criticism in general since he’s so frequently discussed

But Drake wasn’t rapping/singing this well on these many soul sample beats before CLB. I consider that evolution.
Lol and Drake doesn't? Over the last half-decade he's explored dancehall, Afrobeats, and drill (and also literally rapped in Spanish and French) and regularly experiments with different vocal inflections (N 2 Deep is a good example of this off CLB).
People just be hating because they're tired of Drake's dominance. Most of the criticism of this album has little substance behind it.

I just wish there were consistent standards in the critical world. Critics eat up and praise whatever Thug and Uzi and Future put out. Rightly so -- those are good artists. But then Drake gets killed for some s*** that you could say about anyone else.
Another common one is that Drake's more recent albums are overlong. But the critics' favorite rapper last year was Lil Baby -- and My Turn had 26 tracks on it!
I'm not doing the work for.you. 8 don't need convincing. You do, so you do it.
My g, respectfully, the burden of proof would be on you for this lol. If you going to make this argument, you kind of have to show how it’s done if you expect anyone to take it serous. If you don’t care enough that’s cool, but then idk why you brought it up lol

Faxxxxxxx
I think it’s crazy that people aren’t praising how comfortable Drake’s gotten with using soul sample beats and his singing has improved by A LOT
I also think lyrically, this is one of his best efforts and most consistent. Only rap track where his lyrics aren’t impressive is Way 2 Sexy and obviously that’s not needed for that kind of record

I'm not making an argument. I made an observation. If you don't agree then fine but it's not my job to go into a Playlist and rearrange songs lol.
It's easy to do..switch these two songs and both albums are.fundamentally exactly the same.

Also, thanks for doing the work 😂

You see how you ignored the substance lol
You claimed I had to prove my argument and now you comment on something other than the proof.
Just admit you are wrong.
Come on bro. lbr for the most part he has the same 4-5 songs that he keeps remaking.
for the past 5 years hes just been remaking these 5 songs with pretty much the same producers and same collaborators
LMAO HAHA
Next criticism is going to be why does drake always rap/sing in english he never explores new languages
you're dumb as f***

Look at you again. Not mentioning tbe obvious similarity to name calling. Again I am not doing the work for you lol.
Do it yourself.

!https://youtu.be/QR8PV3-I7p0!https://youtu.be/pwtWYFUwenEIs your point that More Life and CLB are interchangeable? Because they're clearly not lol. You can cherry-pick songs that sound alike from any artist's catalogue. So I don't know what point you're trying to make with this specific example.
