It doesn't help that the media keeps using Drake's numbers to compare to past rap GOAT's and legends in other genres like MJ and the Beatles.

When people see all of this, they become naturally critical of Drake's music because they're comparing him to top tier artists and Drake at least post 2015 doesn't seem to meet the standard quality wise.

Also, Drake's been dominating for so long and the top rapper always gets some hate. But, since newer rappers don't seem to be changing the game too much, it makes Drake seem invincible which polarizes people.

I do agree that Drake is more diverse than people give credit for but him reaching his popularity peak while releasing his most underwhelming music did not help him.

Come on bro. lbr for the most part he has the same 4-5 songs that he keeps remaking.

    • some r&b s***
    • some dancehall/afro beats s***
    • some braggadocio s***
    • some "real hip hop" s*** where hes rapping over a sample based beat

for the past 5 years hes just been remaking these 5 songs with pretty much the same producers and same collaborators

lol you could say that about any popular artist. people just don't appreciate Drake's music bc of how frequently he drops and the internet's culture of comparison and criticism.

People never hate on Cole for this either lol, music hasn't evolved at all since 2016.
I highly doubt Kendrick gonna evolve with this new album too, we'll see

Wayne has pushed mainstream rap with his exquisite wordplay.

  • Sep 5, 2021

Hating on Drake is a personality trait for virgin KTT2 men

Because they explore new sounds, aesthetics, and utilize new vocal inflections, etc to make up for it

    So does Drake lmao

Of course they are. Ppl have been saying this about Pusha T for ages.

And Lil Wayne gets criticized every album for lack of substance.

The reason you don't hear about its cause they aren't drake

    literally lmao

then Weeknd is boring because all he makes is "r&b s***"
Hov is s*** because he only makes "real hip hop" s***

Do they want Drake to invent a genre?

All Drakes r&b songs are the same s***. Then you got s*** like Lemon pepper freestyle which hes remade like 5 times atp

Bruh you don’t even try anymore lmao

Just being honest, as drake fans idt we can make this point if drake wants to go down as top5, the greatest evolve and eat forever with new sounds and materials.. the difference is i actually think there’s a number of evolutions in sounds and subject matter in this album

yea definitely I'm just curious where he's gonna go with this new album cause I don't think it's possible for him to evolve much more

losers hate the person at the top

while you still hear these complaints you'll know drake is still #1. it has happened his entire career, starting with not liking his singing, then hand movements, then sweaters, etc

Here is a good example. Imagine if Kanye made an Donda full of 24s

That's a horrible example bruh lol. Drake has least has 5-6 different sounds that he utilizes for the album, so it can't sound like an album "full of 24s". I get some of your other criticisms though

Drake gets punished then for already being too versatile?? You know how many artists you couldn’t have 5 categories for what you could expect from them? I swear y’all just want Drake to do some weird abstract album like Kanye

Forreal. Drake has 5 most people have 1. And the thing is he always needs 5 because he has one of the biggest fanbases and needs to satisfy each part of it. That’s what happens when you’re that big and versatile

  • Sep 5, 2021

Y’all lowkey know where these people coming from but don’t wanna admit it

  • Sep 5, 2021

He has evolved his sound immensely. If what some people are saying were true about making the same songs over and over then a lot less people would be listening to Drake by now. You can say he’s making music in the same genre’s over and over but he’s evolved it and he keeps people interested because he’s one of the best to ever do it. His music will be appreciated a lot more once he retires I’m certain of that.
