A recent trend in the rap community has been focusing on how much an artist sells but it’s obviously not a sign of quality in a record so why should we even care how much an artist sells?
I’m glad when my favorite musician is successful but counting their pockets and sales causes music to be a popularity contest.
@Goo bruh lol
it's just a cop out only stans/losers use
stocks are based on sales
despite the bundle era f***ing s*** up, sales are a good indicator of relevance, but not an end all be all. its an objective metric to use in debates in arguments for such a subjective art that is music

great observation Kodak White
It always been like that to a degree by rappers so they can flex but it has increased because rap has gone pop
Because it means the artist has longevity
imo only to see if more artists will follow the album's sound or not
Shows us what's really popping and what's actually important in hip-hop. Niggas be talmbout some isaiah rashad and freddie gibbs having classics and J cole dont
Sales have to matter in the discussion for "top rapper".
I just wish it wasnt used to dunk on so many people.
