These nerd niggas bring an ego to this rap s*** but don’t really speak the language
I really hate Genius
Genius makes sense and more artists should probably do it.
They don't pay these artists while using their literal words. It's another example of hip hop being devalued.
Plus, genius f***s up a lot more lyrics than they get right. It's also a better fulfilling experience when you personally listen and get what you want out of it.
I miss the days where the CD liner notes had the lyrics from the artists themselves.
Rap CDs of most of the major players hardly ever had the lyrics. That was more other genres things

Paying artists to quote their lyrics? 🤨
Honestly wouldn't have an issue with Mach not dropping his lyrics if the nigga actually properly and clearly mixed his vocals with his f***in beats. Lotta times I genuinely have a hard time hearing what he says on his s*** cause it's lost in the beat. How you charging damn near 700 bucks for ya albums and it sounds like you recording on a cheap ass mic and mixing your s*** in Audacity?
But yea same reason some painters don’t have the blurb paragraph next to the piece on exhibition. If you can’t get into it maybe it’s not for you (& thats fine). Certain things are best interfaced with directly w no middleman. He’s also trolling white column writer twitter reddit people
I have no issues with an artist naming their price if it's DIY. Someone will buy it if they can afford it. Jean Christophe Grandin bought every Mach album as it dropped. Dude a legend for that. Roc's $20-30 dollar price tag was very reasonable. And he always dropped a couple weeks later on Spotify
It worked for Mach heavily in his favor. That price tag, plus the fact that his music was being bootlegged + people had no access to him via social media only made people want to hear more about him.
His stuff was $187 on bandcamp at first. Then went up to the reasonable price of $777
Don’t his albums with Lebron and Kobe on the cover go for like $3000?

Yep
But looking at the prices now, they back in the $150 Range but are sold out

rap genius isn’t the only lyric site making money off the music they just were able to add a feature that made theirs the biggest. also it’s not always them putting up lyrics a lot of time the labels have interns listen to the songs and submit lyrics to these sites
Mach, Roc, and Nipsey got killed for doing s*** that in retrospect was a smart move.
Now, I don't agree with selling an album for a whole rack, personally speaking. I think the value in music comes from the quantity of people buying the art (compared to...literal art). But people should be adding incentives. like imagine if every big artist started putting they albums out for a week on bandcamp or a service that was non streaming. :word:
nip didn’t get killed for that people praised him for the retail cremshaw package
