The genius is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of Haitian Creole most of the bars will go over a typical listener's head. There's also Mach's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Jacques Roumain literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these raps, to realise that they're not just poetic- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Mach & Fahim truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the poetry in Mach's existential catchphrase "Wap Kon Joj!," which itself is a cryptic reference to Félix Morisseau-Leroy's Haitian epic Plenitudes. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Mach's genius wit unfolds itself on their ears. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
