    Nah the music is cool

There’s absolutely no personality to most of these folks because their social media presence is asking who has d**** at the next stop and dropping TikTok snippets

Carti and Uzi and Yachty had random videos and tweets that would give them personality

    Etc etc etc

Some people from Uzi & Co.’s generation were featured in XXL’s freshmen group. By association, their respective and collective spheres of influence expanded right there. The next gen of artists aren’t really breaking through the mainstream because they’re not really segmenting themselves from other artists.

The rage wave is pretty much over but look at how many songs came out from that era. What lasting impact did that leave? Speaking solely about Opium, you really wouldn't know who they were if you aren’t really into Carti (by way of music or fashion because it seems Opium fans have an affinity for both).

    Motorola?

Motorola and Wdyw were the first songs that put uzi on for general listeners

Side note: just relisten to Wdyw and Uzi’s voice sounds so fking bad

Being a plant isn’t an early backing, it’s also the facade of being indie

There was no facade for these guys, they just weren’t signed to a major label until late 2016

Yea I don’t get how they were plants, what kind of leverage did Don Cannon, Thug, or Rocky have in 2014/2015 to plant an artist in the industry?

They have no personality in their music, not because of social media

And I’m really just speaking on Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely, haven’t heard any others. Yeat is ok in my book because he’s actually different and has at least a few songs I like

Lil Pump is featured on a song with Kanye. To me, personally, that means nothing but on paper, that’s a big deal. Pump mastered trolling, had a personality, absolutely genius (albeit problematic) marketing.

I’ve never seen some of these emerging artists yall laud on here do anything of that caliber.

  • nothing is cutting thru

theres amszing art out there thats not the problem

our attatchment to the present is wavering

we are haunted by relics of the past, living in memories

Everyone who actually listens to new rap (which is disproportionately the youth bc people around my age suck (25) )

Lazer dim and Ian are resonating in real life. Lazer dim has actual motion and is building one of the strongest cult fanbases we’ve ever seen in rap

Ian already broke through the underground getting co-signed by Yachty, Drake, Southside, OT7 Quanny, etc

Man I don’t understand why your always talking about these guys like they’re up next soon to be superstars or something

It’s niche music with a niche group of kids listeners. Same as any other underground scene

You’re 25 and im wondering if you just got into hip hop like 3 years ago because there’s no other reason you’d say stuff like that. You were around when the older generations blew up and you should be able to see the difference

The first Uzi song I heard was Motorola on SoundCloud. Might’ve been posted here tbh. That song got him buzz online tbh
