We let finance majors and nepobabies run an industry of the arts
We need DJ’s and local collectives starting labels again
also inflation its harder to cosplay being a self made rich underground rapper when cost of living is higher than a decade ago, they probably make minimum wage salary
because they are garbage lol
don’t make it more complicated than that

a lot of y'all niggas became the ppl y'all used to hate and mock on (oldheads)
just dismissive of anything new that comes out s*** is sad
Because that was the last underground era with its own personality and they were a more defined group. Music wasn’t as saturated so there wasnt that many competitors in the underground eating into these guys’ streams
Now there are 1.3 billion artists that are considered “underground” and they all sound, behave, and look the same and they competing with each other
Man I don’t understand why your always talking about these guys like they’re up next soon to be superstars or something
It’s niche music with a niche group of kids listeners. Same as any other underground scene
You’re 25 and im wondering if you just got into hip hop like 3 years ago because there’s no other reason you’d say stuff like that. You were around when the older generations blew up and you should be able to see the difference
He a Hispanic dude with dreads, he a lil confused. He’ll wake up soon lmfao
Lil Pump is featured on a song with Kanye. To me, personally, that means nothing but on paper, that’s a big deal. Pump mastered trolling, had a personality, absolutely genius (albeit problematic) marketing.
I’ve never seen some of these emerging artists yall laud on here do anything of that caliber.
weiland
lack of catchy songwriting
people forget that besides being super sexy and cool Carti and Uzi have a knack for melodies
also i like that lazer dim guy but that project he dropped got really repetitive when you got further into it imo

no way bro is 25
what kind of personality did 2016 carti have in his music compared to them tho
It takes a certain level of natural charisma to pull off “she suck on the d*** like a tick” in multiple songs and every time have it sound more fire than the last
But really he was def a unique artist even back then. He might’ve taken inspiration from others which he still does but his music was never soulless like Destory Lonely’s is
They’re many factors to this but the main ones are;
The Pandemic: the pandemic kind slowed down artists from breaking out due to lockdowns which means lack of exposure outside of the internet
Too Many Allegations: A lot of these new gen underground SC rappers have done so much sus s*** the past 4-5 years that people are not gonna even give them a chance based on that
No Personality: 90% of these sc rappers lack personality and only copy and paste what Carti is doing or act antisocial on camera
No Crossover Appeal: This tied to the 3rd point but a lot of these rappers lack crossover appeal, Yeat is the only one from the new gen to pop off big but even then he’s sort of in this “NBA Youngboy” realm where he is not acknowledged by the industry outside of streaming metrics
Didn't Ken Carson just perform at Coachella

This is the argument lil pump fans were using in 2017

They were right except they were defending someone who just made bad music
Here go some underground sauce for y’all though
Bro posted LORD BINGO
They were right except they were defending someone who just made bad music
They weren’t right because people hating on lil pump likely enjoyed many new artists that came after him
Most ppl don’t know that tbh
Non educated ppl would say Top or 7AM or sum
The first Uzi song I heard was Motorola on SoundCloud. Might’ve been posted here tbh. That song got him buzz online tbh
I guess for me it would’ve been money longer. But honestly I never really knew about an underground like that at that time.
