Drag queens as a group should not be shunned for a few bad outliers. Furries should tho

Taking kids to a raunchy drag show is an obvious no though, I once went to a club where a drag queen was DJing and her crowd work was insane, pointed at a dude and said 'Look at those teeth! If you gave me a b****** I'd end up Jewish', that's stuck with me ever since

    yo???

No but I would also wait to expose the existence of it until an appropriate age. I personally wish my parents taught me alot more about the existence of certain things like drag shows or trans people but they acted like they didn’t exist n now that I’m an adult it’s like why hide this to me at all when it’s completely harmless but promote hate towards other marginalized communities. Doesn’t make sense to me at all

the issue is not and has never been about drag queens. people attack drag as thinly veiled transphobia. most drag queens want absolutely nothing to do with a child. nor do they want them in adult spaces where they would have to censor their acts.

"drag queen story time" is only on the news because some people don't know the difference between drag queens and trans people and politicians jump at that opportunity. but i don't think there's any explanation you really need to give children for drag other than "some adults play dress up too"

feels weird that people are hyperfocusing on drag queens now

what would you consider an appropriate age for this?

I'd just raise em as regular and if we see a drag queen or if it comes up I'd just tell them what that is like my mom did.

A little under a decade ago my girlfriend and I were walking on the sidewalk and a guy started shooting so everybody hit the ground, we tried to get behind a parked car and I got in front of my gf but for at least 1/1000ths of a second my immediate instinct was to use her as a human shield

Should've left this one in the drafts
