for what it’s worth he’s been liking posts on instagram about this. just off the top of my head here are some i remember seeing him like. just so it’s known he’s not completely just shunning himself from what’s going on

and ironically what some people are mad about he liked a post about

Him liking diddy's silence post is pretty ironic tho

he very rarely raps about american black struggle because hes from toronto, a city that is arguably the MOST racially diverse place to live in the world and fuses all those cultures into one big city

in toronto, ur friend group will easily consist of 3-4 different races of people, literally look at drakes team he had since the start that consists of just that.

Race isnt even "seen" in toronto, you dont walk down the street and say "oh look an asian" "oh look a black guy" "oh look a white dude", its just toronto mans

honestly feel like americans will never understand this, how diverse toronto is and unified

There is blatant racism in Toronto. Don't ever believe otherwise.

    Mr Papi Nigga Dave

Na bro. Toronto ane Canada is equally racist. They don't have the history America. The whole race isnt seen sentiment is played out. Why wouldn't i want someone to see me for my race. New york and Cali are diverse too doesn't mean there isnt racism or discrimination

personally, i would much rather be identified as ME, my personality, than my race. but if u disagree with that than thats just ur personal preference.

and living 22 years in the city ive never felt even 1/10th of the racism seen in america

yea i feel you bro. But my point was it doesn't make sense not seeing race. Your race is who you are and how you are seen no matter what. If you are black you would be seen as black before any discrimination

Nah I'm waiting on Beyonce to energize her beehive for something useful one of these days instead of spamming other artists IG when they say even the smallest thing against their queen

Hit the nail on the head. Well said OP.

Exactly. A bunch of black celebs have remained quiet, not just him. Celebs shouldn't even be looked upon in times like this.

  • thegreatdivine

Why does anyone care what celebrities have to say in the first place?

  • May 29, 2020

Drake said it best, none of his achievements or accolades are treated as those of a Black artist. He's been told that he can't speak on or relate to the issues of Black Americans, even though Black people in Canada experience the same racism in their country. Yes, his mother was white and Jewish, but he has a Black American dad, and regardless what others might spin it as, he's a Black man, simply put. But of course, when trying to discredit him, people paint him as a Jewish Canadian "mixed" man who "steals" from the culture, when he's a part of the damn culture he's "stealing" from in the first place. So he's a "mixed" outsider when convenient, but he's "Black" when people want him to start giving woke lip service like almost every other rapper. So why would he bother posting a useless tweet or instagram post when he can instead do something of worth behind the scenes, just like their beloved Jay-Z or Kendrick or Cole. He doesn't owe the masses anything in the form of a lip service post.

Aubrey is weird. He makes most of his bread and butter in America but can’t even speak out on the issues that plague his biggest market.

  • May 29, 2020

Is Drake obligated to speak on these issues given his position in Hiphop culture: Yes

Do I think Drake will speak on these issues: Yes.

Will Drake be criticized for speaking on these issues: Yes.

  • May 29, 2020

Canada is a very racist country

Right now there’s a story about police maybe pushing a black woman off a balcony to her death I think he should speak up

  • May 29, 2020

everyone has an obligation to speak on it, especially anyone with a platform

the fact that one of the primary deaths is based out of toronto and he's on IG promoting music is something else

  • May 29, 2020

Drakes white Canadian producer speaks out openly about issues more than he does. That’s all I’m gonna say.

  • May 29, 2020

Why is Drake singled out? Wtf has Future done to speak up? Travis? He’s busy selling shoes today. Where’s Cole? Kendrick only speaks up when it’s time to sell records it seems.
