It's kinda weak he hasn't said anything.

A lot of celebrities haven't said anything. Doesn't mean anything isn't done behind the scenes. Doesn't mean they aren't using their influence and wealth behind the scenes.

I swear I hate Twitter activist so much... They’re even trying to come for J Cole and Kendrick

    twitter.com/noname/status/1266454670785908737?s=21

Just because Drake, Cole, Kendrick and any other rapper hasn’t rushed to make a statement yet for social media, Doesn’t mean they haven’t done anything out of the public

Money and action is worth way more than a little tweet imo

  • May 29, 2020

Not sure why people need validation from celebrities.

  • May 30, 2020

Some of y'all are making demands in here and haven't posted in the music sxn threads about Cole/Kendrick + Travis.

    I wonder why???

I was good with him with or without his statements. Just posing the question since there’s been an ongoing conversation about it.

I don't think Op was one of the ones s***ting on Drake. I'm pretty sure that wasn't the point of the thread.

Honestly I was hoping he would speak on it and it wouldn’t sit right with me if he didn’t.

Yes speaking on it doesn’t mean that it’ll challenge anything but anyone who is a large of a public figure as him and always in pop culture ignoring it on a public level as a black man just wouldn’t sit right with me.

Kendrick & J Cole haven’t posted about it but they also don’t use social media in general (not to mention they usually discuss this in their music). Drake is literally on Instagram every single day so him having nothing to say about it would definitely bother me more than those two because at that point it would just seem like he was purposely avoiding discussing it. There’s no way he couldn’t scroll down his timeline and see everyone else discussing it.

TLDR, thankfully he finally did speak on it because I would’ve had a side eye honestly if he ignored it

I think so as well but in some cases as we've seen, celebs speak on it and it only ends up being a display of their ignorance. Not every famous person is really woke or informed enough to make well-rounded statements when it comes to issues concerning race so I'll always believe it's ridiculous to expect every celebrity to be an activist. The one way they can help out is with their money. They can donate to the bail fund. They can pay to get supplies to protestors. They can donate to the family of George Floyd and the family of any other black person who has been murdered. They can donate to groups and charities that do community work. That's a real way to help out.

Why aren’t they keen on hearing the biracial struggle? I’m mixed race (from South Africa) and we have our own historical and identity issues. This isn’t talking away from the black struggle. Being mixed comes with its privileges but it’s not all rosy.

Drake is in a unique position as someone said earlier. If he doesn’t, people will critique him for it, if he does they’ll still critique him for it.

He’s posted about it, now what? Has anything changed in the 5 hours since? I hope you’re now content in your heart, all should be fine now because Drake acknowledged it on social media. The police will now stop killing people because Drake, Rihanna, Beyoncé etc posted on IG, y’all really gotta grow up.
