There are protests happening right now in Toronto about another Black man killed by police. drake is nowhere to be found. He raised the point that people don’t consider him “Black excellence” but this is the exact reason why. And this will ultimately be the reason why people won’t ever view him in that MJ tier when it’s all said and done

Very weird times we’re living man, very weird. Racial tension and murders while we’re in a global pandemic yet this is what people are focusing on? Shame on you. He acknowledged the situation, get over it.

“Responsibility” Lol get over yourself and do the work yourself.

This is why when it’s all said and done, people will look at Drake as a hit maker but an artist that never actually had anything to say about people’s lives outside of his music. He literally just doesn’t have anything to say. He’s been to more countries than most people will ever see. He talks about how he has all these friends in these countries and how they touch his stage, but he doesn’t have anything to say about people’s lives. It’s gonna cost him the legacy he wants so badly to have.

Do you think you've done more groundwork to help black people than Drake out of interest? People can easily show you receipts of the crazy amounts of s*** he's done.

Stop focusing on celebs and focus on yourself weirdo.

All I'm saying is that celebs are the most powerful people in the world. I never said he didn't do anything or that I did more than what every black/white/mixed/latin/asian/any race celeb has done to help with racism and prejudice in America. I'm saying that since celebs are so powerful and a lot of them act like they care about issues like we've seen all week, the least they can do is put out a tweet or IG post which I also acknowledged that Drake did. I'm not gonna talk about work I've done cuz it's none of your business, as what he has or hasn't done isn't mine or yours either. I'm just saying the most powerful people in the world are oftentimes so selfish and it hurts cuz they go around taking from other cultures and never wanna do anything to help when there's a big issue. Many of them do things in public and behind the scenes which is great. Fantastic if you ask me. But many of them don't do anything. I'm not judging, I'm just saying why not when you can? It never hurts to help. It does hurt to just be idle and say or do nothing, which many celebs and people in positions of power and influence in general do all the time.

Celebs are influential in a lot of ways but I think the last elections shows when it comes to political sway they ain't important as we'd hope. Every celeb can be anti trump it doesn't matter in the circles that back him

The powers that be ain't worried about a Kendrick, Drake, Beyonce, Cole statement / protest

You're right. Hilary literally had Katy Perry, Beyonce, Jay Z, all the celebs in her corner and lost (due to electorate, but still lost). In some cases they are influential, but they're not as much as we want them, need them, or don't want them to be. I just wish our country wasn't an institution that continues to cause us to suffer after 400 years. The fight for equality will never end, but I'm just hoping one day we'll actually be equal. It feels like everytime we take a step forward, society puts us two steps back.

Don’t get me wrong but the hypocrisy towards Drake is so in our faces. Y’all want him to speak up about racial and political issues but y’all don’t wanna give this man the credit of Black Excellence, always belittling his credit, his influence and his legacy whenever y’all feel like. If he gets to speak I hope it’s because he really feels like, not because he owes something to a community that only show support when it’s convenient.

I’m not speaking as a fan but y’all really need to make up your minds when it comes to him as a human being.

Does he have to be on the ground right this second to be making a difference? It seems to me that this is misplaced anger. We have no evidence of inaction on his part. It’s well documented that he’s contributed to his city in a variety of ways. He was assisting flying supplies just last month. You have no idea what he has done and it’s weird that people are trying to redirect their anger at him. People have trouble viewing as black excellence because they never viewed him as black in the first place. To a lot of people he’s just Jew which is wild. There are black artists that speak on nothing of substance but are considered black excellence due to their specific racial makeup. Drake seems like the only artist that has to earn the god given blackness. S***s weird and counterproductive.

Drake may not make music about over social issues but his life experience of filled with substance and gems. It’s not like he’s a couple years into his career. He’s got 10 plus year old projects that people have grown up with and have been the soundtrack to their lives.

Yes he should be on the ground right now instead of cryptic Instagram posts. Just like there hasn’t been evidence that he hasn’t been doing stuff behind the scenes, there isn’t any evidence that he’s doing anything at all. Please don’t misunderstand my point. It’s not anger at Drake. It’s just a fact that even when the protest is in his city, he doesn’t have anything of substance to say besides the Instagram posts. When stuff happens in the UK he doesn’t say anything. But he’ll talk for days about how he has blessings from the Gs in these places. It’s very disingenuous and as fans that want to see him mentioned with the all time greats, the hollowness of his music and the public persona make it impossible for him to ever end up there

It’s so crazy. We are upset at racism but are doubling down on colorism when it comes to Drake. For what? They want him to speak up on black issues while at the same time denying his blackness. They even s*** on his child for not being black enough. S***s out of control.

Is Jay Z on the ground right now? Is Beyoncé? Is Rihanna? Kanye West? Cardi B? J Cole and Chance are the only people I’ve seen at protests. So basically, Drake has to be Captain America, Captain Canada, and Captain Britain at all times in order to get the credit he’s earned? Does he need to be the King of the Jews too?

Half these rappers you’re talking about may speak on social issues but nobody has any solutions. Half of them openly don’t vote. Cardi B has never rapped anything of substance in her life (unlike Drake) but she’s the only rapper besides Killer Mike actually trying to work with politicians like Sanders who have a plans that can help black people. See, the music is great and all but it’s really about actions out of the booth. Kanye said all types of socially conscious s*** and then undermined everything with his Trump s***. Actions will always trump music.

People were upset about him not posting anything and now are upset that he isn’t doing enough? What is enough? There are many many more productive ways for him to assist people in his city than protesting. I bet y’all would still criticize him if he even showed up.

Literally bro. I wouldn’t judge him if he ends up retiring in Toronto and it’s never heard of or seen in America again... if there’s an audience that does not deserve his talent and charisma is Americans, just look at their comments whenever he does Dancehall or Drill but Americans were the first one to d*** ride a bunch of pop artists that jumped into the wave he brought back...

Shut up idiot. You’re name references Asap Rocky you should sit this one out. If talking about social issues has an impact on legacy a lot of our hip hop legends wouldn’t be legends because many don’t and didn’t speak on social issues. Diddy is all for black excellence and just tweeted some bullshit Drakes legacy is fine no matter what bullshit you pull out them ass cheeks.

We all have a responsibility to speak out against injustice. Not just black celebrities.
