I feel like this thread is arguing about something that isnt accurate at all which makes the whole debate pointless.

street rap has been popular for ages though. there will always be other sounds that'll prosper, it's not like only one thing is popular at a time.

even if there has always been white fans, that was never the face of hip-hop fandom. idk what the future holds but as of today, it's still not.

That isnt the face of the average rap fan. But those particular type of kids have almost all rap on their playlists.

bear1boss is super hard he just needs to work with the right producers

if bear1boss had the same resources that Lonely and Ken are getting through signing to Opium (a1 producers like starboy, artdealer, outtatown, etc.), he'd be just as poppin as them

that's true and they are the ones hyping up the majority of the trash out there and switching around "fav" rappers like it's clothing

I didn’t mean they were the only face I should’ve clarified but they are a demographic of hip hop and “Hypebeast” culture. I mean I don’t look like that but they still exist

Why are y’all in denial about this? This is literally what a Carti/Uzi/Travis Stan looks like... lol

I'm not in denial but I don't think you can box "fans" in by how they look. That's stereotyping.

I gave up on this rap s*** a looooong time ago. All these dudes that KTT hype up besides the biggest names are interchangeable and then you complain about variety in the game and they’ll point you too a guy like Semetary lol.

    Very fair point sir.

And for what it’s worth I wasn’t saying this is what every young rap fan looks like, but just replying in context that someone was implying people who look like this don’t listen to rap

they have infiltrated hip-hop and fashion culture, but they still aren't the face of either one. these are just kids from the suburbs looking for guidance and a pass time. nothing deeper than that.

Everyone from the so called experimental types to the most mainstream artist talks about f***ing b****es,getting money, clothes and how they like to f*** a b**** over trap drums and hi-hats,some may use a s***ty sample,it may be slowed down, distorted, the rapper may rap ok or he may not have a flow at all but it’s all the same bases.

How do kids feel like any of this stuff truly differentiates itself from each other is beyond me.

even though wlr was a decent album, ultimately it was a missed opportunity that didn't resonate with the masses. uzi's last album was another missed opportunity because he tried too hard to impressed old heads that focus on bars over melodies, and that s*** backfired. with that being said, neither are of them are going anywhere soon.

what song on their would even be good to push as single lol, they either way too short or not suited for radio play

Artist now really don’t know better than the fans they serve so their unable to create something unexpected but also needed within music. Everything is Pop now cause the fans drive everything instead of letting artist be artist but artist aren’t even artist anymore cause they listen to the fans more instead of their ability to create.

That’s 6 years out of the entire history of rap and that didn’t even last long. There was a period from like 15-17 where street rap wasn’t the most popular but that’s ended

yeh my point is that street rap lost its dominance a while ago to pop rap and wont take over again

  • May 11, 2021

Street rap has already taken the crown back. Look at the next generation of rappers. Its almost all street rappers.

Im not saying this is the only face just like in the 90s/ golden era you had “back packers” and “daisy age rap” fans who had a certain image compared to fans of just gangsta s***.. but they still hold weight tho.

and I wouldn’t even say they are all from the suburbs.. well maybe those in the picture lol but even a lot of “city kids” look like this and are as into the culture as I was at 15. Atleast from an introductory POV…
