The state of DC for the past f***ing 40 30+ years

I picked up 761 but what has happened leading up to this?

Yo f*** this Death Metal s***. Scott Snyder really becoming annoying at this point. I sound like a broken record, but he’s trying WAY too f***ing hard to be Grant Morrison. The dumb concepts and dumb versions of Batman he’s spewing out of this book is a straight up booty cheeks fam. Who in DC made this dude their go-to event writer lol

A couple stories ago Barry needed help against a villain he unleashed in the 25th century who came to destroy everything and only person he could find who knew how to end it was Thawne. So he went back to his moms death and when Thawne was done killing her (I know) he helped out and then of course tricked Barry by turning against him. He killed Godspeed and went to grab a bunch of classic flash villains from certain classic moments in the past. Also got Barry’s children Tornado Twins from the 30th century

Then they’re killing s\*\*\* and Thawne momentarily wins by fusing himself into Barry and becoming Barry Allen (similar to the Mark Waid story but he’s actually in his body). Barry’s stuck in an space in Thawnes mind (or something) where he finds Max Mercury and Jessie Quick and together they will their way out and Barry splits from Thawne. while on the outside Bart Allen realizes that’s not Barry and Jay Garrick comes to help. When everyone’s out it’s speedsters vs Thawnes team. And characters notice Thawne didn’t grab evil speedsters for a reason. Also Bart meets his dad for the first time, but they disappear to their time and turn good for a few seconds after escaping Thawnes spell

Thanks, bro! Damn ngl i kinda regret dropping this book now. This was exactly the stuff i feel like was missing too. Is there any indication as to what their plan is with Wally? I know he's like hella OP now lol but just seems like a ploy for the sake of the Death Metal event. Idk i'm just so used to Wally getting mishandled.

tbh i dropped for a bit too as someone who'd never consider skipping Flash. Williamson is great when he goes all out on classic characters but some of his new ideas and characters were a drag. Like all of the Force Quest and new forces s***.

I'm hoping the s*** with Wally ends soon with Speed Metal in a few weeks. Willaimson been posting pics from the original DC Rebirth #1 which hopefully means its a return. Snyder was also telling comic book youtubers that by the end we should have classic Wally back to his "mantle" by the end. Im about to catch up on Death Metal soon. Williamson's final issue AND Speed Metal drop same day so the 22nd will be huge

There's so many speedsters back that now is better than ever for his book. Let him, Bart, Jay, etc...do their own thing. When Wally turns back like they have to use him somewhere and main Flash is too stacked to have everyone. This is Wally's biggest opening for good usage in years. Literally everything is set and his worries will be mostly gone once he's back to normal and gets his wife back

Yeah i agree. S*** just got too gimmicky for me. Definitely excited for the flash stuff to come though, so i think ima start pulling it again. I just really hope that Wally gets his own title. If they wanna show that they care about that character, it needs to be done lol

Let me know what you think when you catch up with Death Metal. I been pretty vocal about it in this thread, but need some other perspective lol. S*** is just goofy at this point.

Politics been in comics since it’s inception.

I'm talking about behind the scenes. All this woke s*** people just using it for their own ulterior motives, they don't care, otherwise they wouldn't be so self-centered on going about it.

The politics of today are harped on trends, and not everyone can make good art/literature centred around them. Talking about a trending topic of today and slapping it onto a comic book doesn't make it good, make it a metaphor, make it allegorical, these writers don't have the creative tenacity to do that.

I'm happy that Milestone is coming back I just ask that the writers creat good stories, and if they're going to talk about current trends, put research into the subject from all angles and start from there.

dark victory was good, but court of owls is INSANE. wow. gonna read city of owls now, potentially night of owls too

When people talk about Court of Owls they generally mean both Court and City so yeah go right ahead and finish it out

I believe Night of Owls is mostly tie in stories tho that include the two you would have read. Not really that important.
