It鈥檚 okay.
The first step is admitting you didn鈥檛 reach your goals and then diving into why they weren鈥檛 met.
I read two 1000+ pages books in my defense
what did you read
AFFC and ADWD :kanyeshrug:
Easily some of the best I read this year, George prose is immaculate
Edit: Actually three since I read ASOS at the very beginning of this year so I'm more than satisfied

Finished my 45 book goal for this year
Now I can finally stop game-ifying my reading and just read what I want

impressive
gonna make a thread at the start of December unless somebody else does about top 10 reads of the year, would love to see your list
yea that's why this year I didn't put a numerical goal. I've read less books, but have chosen some longer ones and it didn't feel like a race
still not taking notes, reading big challenges, or reading more non-fiction like I wanted to tho

ya I'd love that!
I love finding a book w/ notes in it but I never make notes in my own. And I never read non fiction. Do you have something non fiction waiting on your list?

12 books planned for the year but I'd like to read more of course. The number isn't as important as just the habit of always having a book in rotation.
These are my 12 books (1 a month minimum):
Outliers (Malcolm Gladwell)
Adulthood Rites & Imago (Octavia Butler)
Neuromancer (William Gibson)
Crime and Punishment (Fyodor Dostoesvsky)
Blood Meridian (Cormac McCarthy)
Collected Fictions (Jorges Luis Borges)
Sula (Toni Morrison)
100 Years of Solitude (Gabriel Garcia Marquez)
Project Hail Mary (Andy Weir)
Dhahlgren (Samuel R. Delany)
Black Buck (Mateo Askaripour)
Now this is the solidified list but I'd like make room for more stuff when I finish these up.
Stephen King
Leo Tolstoy
Roberto Bolano
Brandon Sanderson
Evan Winter
NK Jemisin
Other Goals:
Don't buy more books than I'm reading.
Only allowing myself one major book haul to start the year.
Utilize the local library more.
Mainly use second hand bookshops or Independent (specifically Black-Owned) Bookstores
Avoid Barnes&Noble and Amazon (If possible)
Read at least one self-published author (preferably unknown)
Use my kindle more
