some of last travis, ye, mike dean work sound like it was made in the rush to drop
not all of them, just some
so for me they dont have a quality control like
kendrick, dre, mac miller, post malone have been putting on through these years
those are not trap patterns
but ill give you that the sounds during the verses are trap drum sounds
maybe not “conventional” trap drums but certainly trap rhythms, trap style flows and pretty standard trap structure
@Semiredacted thots?
lol it’s not about gatekeeping, at least for me. it’s literally just weird the lines that are drawn.
is post malone trap? is kanye? ariana grande? drake? i think most people would say no to all of these, but all of them have albums with significant influence from trap production on a majority of tracks, so it’s weird that albums like Rodeo are praised as such. it’s just literally not correct, not that it’s people hurt that Travis wasn’t trapping
all of those artists you listed have done the trap sound before, but no they aren’t primarily trap artists.
“trap music” is not entirely about the trapping/gangsta subject matter or the background of the artist anymore. it’s a sound just like boom bap, g-funk, crunk, rap rock, etc before it
mike dean is the type of engineer that spend hours doing some great mixing and forget to put the f***ing deesser in the vocals, or would leave the feat artist voice low as f*** or to put a lot of f***ing reverb in the vocals to a point that sounds like what you would find a 50$ mixing

Do you mean the cleanest mixed trap album?
That's a significantly different question than best mixed trap album.
I don't think clean is what's best, I think what's best is what conveys the feelings in the rough the best, and that varies from project to project.

nah i get that but for “best mixed trap album,” it’s ridiculous to mention rodeo because, like you mention, it’s just one of many styles used on there. it’s a pop-rap album. beerbongs and bentleys utilizes more trap production than rodeo, folks just (rightfully) won’t call it trap because it’s a pop album. It’s better mixed than every album mentioned here, does it belong itt?

Question: which songs on Rodeo do you think aren’t using trap production?
Beerbongs and Bentleys has some of the best mixes and those are definitely pop-trap songs
