calling Rodeo trap just because there are artists who make trap music featured on it makes as much sense as calling More Life grime because Skepta is featured on it

trap does have its own sound, but if you make that style music without being a trapper/without rapping about trapping, that’s not trap music, that’s music inspired by trap music
but either way, like half of Rodeo sounds nothing like trap music, and the other half only does because there are actual trap artists featured on those songs

People be defining genre solely by production it’s crazy
I’ll always say rodeo has trap production (some of the best ever) but to call it a trap album is such a stretch

Travis Scott was literally raised in the suburbs. the producers & the features on his songs are the only parts of his music that have anything to do with the trap, and that’s still not even most of his music.

the “Seven Rings” argument makes the most sense to me when talking about what trap music even is. “Seven Rings” features trap production & flows you’d typically hear in trap music, but it is not a trap song by any definition of the term. same applies to Rodeo.

That’s my point though. 21 ain’t ever sell d****. The migos are from the burbs. Don’t matter where you’re from. Most modern trap artists talk about doing d**** more then selling anyway. Rodeo is heavily trap inspired and uses more trap elements then any other genre in the album. Trap music ain’t about just saying you trapping no more
