nah i get that but for “best mixed trap album,” it’s ridiculous to mention rodeo because, like you mention, it’s just one of many styles used on there. it’s a pop-rap album. beerbongs and bentleys utilizes more trap production than rodeo, folks just (rightfully) won’t call it trap because it’s a pop album. It’s better mixed than every album mentioned here, does it belong itt?

i personally just label it as a modern southern hip hop album rather than a “trap album” overall but it does contain enough of the trap sound throughout for it to be described as such. it’s not entirely trap rap like die lit or ds2 or barter 6 or whatever but it’s 2 radio singles did help make travis a household name in that particular genre.
but yes there are exceptions like 90210, impossible, pray 4 love, etc

all of those artists you listed have done the trap sound before, but no they aren’t primarily trap artists.
“trap music” is not entirely about the trapping/gangsta subject matter or the background of the artist anymore. it’s a sound just like boom bap, g-funk, crunk, rap rock, etc before it

You guys kill me with this. Trap music and trapping go hand in hand just like conscious/lyrical-miracle rap goes with boom-bap, same thing with crunk or g-funk. These are all different lifestyles and/or cultures with their associated soundtracks. You can be influenced by trap music without making a trap album, let’s stop blurring the lines.

I’d say So Much Fun. It’s crisp across the board and is more dynamically mixed. It’s not extremely brickwalled like most albums in general, let alone the distorted and clipping trap albums we typically see released.

they are styles of hip hop, yes. they all came from somewhere but the subject matter itself is not crucial to the sound anymore. that applies with g-funk, crunk, boom bap and yes trap

I'd consider Rodeo a trap album. Trap is beyond the lyric content. It's a sound now

only people who say this had never listened to a single trap song before Rodeo came out

plus, as others have pointed out, the “trap sound” you’re talking about isn’t even present in most the album aside from when an actual trap artist is featured

“trap inspired” doesn’t make it a trap album

  • Prbz

Anything trap mixed by Alex Tumay, Bainz, Seth Firkins, MixedByAli, KY, Keisha Lee and Jaycen Joshua.

Not because they are "trap engineers" but great engineers in general

    real

Okay but can we talk about how bad the mixing is on Birds and Huncho Jack?

Huncho Jack sounds like a lazily mastered collection of songs that were recorded on 2-track mp3s and vocal presets.

    gin and juice

btw once again if Rodeo is trap then Views is dancehall

if Rodeo is trap, then More Life is grime because it features some artists from the UK

that’s literally how far you have to stretch to call Rodeo a trap album
